Equipment characteristics
The active sand filter uses the countercurrent principle.
The water to be treated flows in from the inflow distribution pipe (1) at the bottom of the equipment, flows upward through the filter bed to be filtered, and then flows out to the filtrate outlet (2) at the top. The filter sand containing impurities to be treated is lifted from the conical bottom (3) of the equipment by the air lift pump (4) to the top filter sand cleaner (5). The cleaning of the filter sand has already started in the lift pump. Under the action of turbulent mixing, impurities are separated from the sand particles. The clean water is rinsed countercurrently, impurities are discharged through the sand washing water outlet (7), and the cleaned sand particles (heavier) are returned to the sand bed (8). The result is that the sand bed continues to slowly sink in the equipment. The compressed air for the lift pump is supplied through the air distributor (9). Water purification and sand cleaning are performed simultaneously, so the filter can be continuously carried out without interference.
