Working principle

Continuous Backwash Upflow Sand Filters (also known as active sand filter) uses a upflow flow bed filter principle and a single homogeneous filter. Filtration and sand washing can be carried out at the same time, and it can run automatically for 24 hours. It is necessary to stop and back flushing, the ingenious sand extraction and sand washing structure instead of the traditional high-power backwashing system, the energy consumption is very low, no maintenance, easy management, unattended.

It is different from the fixed bed filter in the past. It does not need to be shut down 1-2 times a day to clean the filter in the filter bed. The raw water comes into the filter bed from the bottom of the filter and fully contacts the upper flow with the filter bed. The suspended material is intercepted on the filter bed, and the water is discharged from the top water weir. The quartz sand for the removal of pollutants is lifted to the top washing device through the lifting device at the bottom. Because air, water and sand are subjected to severe friction under the action of compressed air, the debris trapped by sand is eluted. The washed sand is added to the filter bed by gravity from top to bottom. The sand washing water is discharged through a separate drain pipe to complete the whole sand washing process.

Installation form

The continuous sand filter can be installed independently or as a filter assembly in the cement tank.

1. Independent installation and filtration: it consists of internal components of the filter. The internal components include water supply pipe, water distributor, air lift pump and sand washing device. The filter is connected to the inlet through flanges, filtrate and water for cleaning. Stainless steel or fiberglass used for standard building. Other options are provided in accordance with specific needs. The filtration equipment can run on a single filter or parallel operation of multiple filters, so as to meet the filtration requirements.

2. As filter components installation: high power continuous sand filtration equipment is usually made up of filter components and built in cement tank. The filter components are made up of stainless steel or fiberglass tapered bottom and internal components.
