Working principle
Because the hardness of water is mainly formed and expressed by calcium and magnesium, the iron exchange resin (water softener) is generally used to replace the Ca2+ and Mg2+ in water (the main composition of the scale). With the increase of Ca2+ and Mg2+ in the resin, the efficiency of the resin removal of Ca2+ and Mg2+ is gradually reduced.
When the resin absorbs a certain amount of calcium and magnesium ions, it must be regenerated. The regeneration process is to use salt water in the salt box to rinse the resin layer and replace the hardness ion on the resin. With the regenerated waste liquid, the resin will restore the softening exchange function.
Application
The Water Softener Plant can be widely applied to softening the make-up water of steam boilers, hot water boilers, exchangers, evaporative condensers, air conditioners, direct combustion engines and other systems. It can also be used in the treatment of domestic water, such as hotels, restaurants, office buildings, apartments, home and so on, and the softening water treatment of food, beverage, liquor making, laundry, printing and dyeing, chemical industry, medicine and other industries.
Equipment characteristics
Working procedure of it have these steps:
Work (sometimes called water production, the same below), backwash, salt absorption (regeneration),slow wash (replacement), quick rinse five processes. All the processes of different water softener are very similar, but there may be some additional processes because of the actual process or the need for control. Any water softening equipment based on sodium ion exchange is developed on the basis of these five processes (in which the fully automatic water softening equipment increases the brine reinjection process).
Backwash: after working for a period of time, the equipment will intercept a lot of raw water from the top of the resin. After removing the dirt, the ion exchange resin can be completely exposed, and the effect of regeneration can be guaranteed. In the process of backwashing, water is washed from the bottom of the resin and flows out from the top, so that the dirt that is intercepted from the top can be washed away. This process usually takes about 5-15 minutes.
Salt absorption (regeneration): the process of injecting salt water into the resin tank, the traditional equipment is to use a salt pump to inject brine, and the full automatic equipment is to use a special built-in ejector to inhale the brine (as long as there is a certain pressure in the water). In the actual working process, the regeneration effect of brine flowing through the resin at a slower speed is better than that of pure saline soaking the resin. So the softening water equipment is regenerated by the slow flow of brine through the resin. This process usually takes about 30 minutes, and the actual time is affected by the amount of salt.
Slow flushing (replacement): after the flow of salt water over the resin, the process of rinsing the salt in the resin is slowly washed with the same flow rate at the same flow rate. Since there are still a lot of calcium and magnesium ions on the functional groups in this process, the ion is exchanged by sodium ion. According to actual experience, this process is the main regeneration. This process is generally the same as salt absorption time, which is about 30 minutes.
