Equipment characteristics
A certain height of sodium ion exchange resin is installed as an exchange agent in the sodium ion exchanger. The raw water passes through the exchanger layer from top to bottom. The sodium ions on the exchanger replace the calcium and magnesium ions in the raw water and soften the water. The reaction is as follows:
Ca2 ++ 2NaR → CaR + 2Na +
Mg2 ++ 2NaR → MgR + 2Na +
The sodium ions on the exchanger are gradually replaced by calcium and magnesium ions. When used for a period of time, calcium and magnesium ions will leak out. When the hardness of the effluent reaches the specified value, the operation is stopped and regeneration is performed. During regeneration, 5-8% brine (or dilute hydrochloric acid) is passed through the exchanger layer from bottom to top. The sodium ions in the salt solution replace the calcium and magnesium ions on the exchange agent to regenerate the exchange agent and restore its exchange capacity. The reaction is as follows:
CaR + 2Na + → Ca2 ++ 2NaR
MgR + 2Na + → Mg2 ++ 2NaR
Product process
During regeneration, the ion exchange resin has a lipid layer and a middle row. The effect will not appear chaotic layer phenomenon, regeneration is more adequate. Not only does it save losses, but it also omits the gas source of the gas cap. After treatment with sodium ion exchanger, the total hardness of the water is reduced to less than 0.04 milliequivalents/ L. In the treatment of water with higher total hardness of raw water, or when the hardness of the effluent is required to be lower, a two-stage series softening method can be used.
