Swimming pool water quality report issued by the European Environment Agency
According to the report, the annual report surveyed about 22000 swimming venues in EU countries as well as in Albania and Switzerland. The investigation includes whether the bacteria that can cause human diseases in relevant waters exceed the standard. According to the report, 96% of swimming places meet the EU's minimum water quality standards, while 85% of places are assessed as "good water quality".
By country, the top three water quality countries are Luxembourg, Malta and Cyprus. Greece, which ranked in the top three last year, has been replaced by Malta.
However, 76 swimming places in Europe have also been closed due to serious pollution, because the water quality of these places has been rated "poor" for five consecutive years. All the closed swimming pools are 44 in Italy, 24 in France, 4 in Spain, Bulgaria, Denmark, Ireland and the Netherlands.
There are 5 countries with more than 95% of the "excellent" cases, of which Luxembourg has the best, Malta has the highest "excellent" rating of 98.9%, and Malta has 97.3%. Belgium, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia and Switzerland are among the countries that meet the water quality standards.
