Faults and solutions of ion exchanger

1. The flow of ion exchanger is not enough.
A. the exchanger layer is too high.
Solution: reduce resin height appropriately.
The water head resistance of B, intake pipe or drainage system is too large.
Solution: change the intake pipe and drainage system, and strengthen the flushing.
2. Normal resin particles were lost during the process of backwashing.
A, drainage cap ruptured;
Solution: change drainage cap;
B and backwash strength are too large.
Solution: reduce the backwash strength;
The velocity distribution on the cross section of C and exchanger is uneven.
Solution: overhaul the intake system;
There are bubbles between D and resin.
Solution: drain bubbles.
3. Damage of intermediate drainage device.
A. When there are bubbles or dry layers in the resin layer, the flow rate of backwash water is too high, the resin layer has not yet dispersed, and the flow of resin is poor. The intermediate drainage device sandwiched in the resin layer is raised upward. Due to shrinkage of resin dry layer during operation, it will also cause downward bending of the middle branch pipe.
Solution: A. intermediate drainage device must be firmly fixed on the special support.
B and branch pipes are changed from circular to elliptical (or bulb shaped) to slow down the impact caused by backwash.
C. The master pipe can also be exposed at 50 mm above the resin layer, and the branch pipe or water cap can be inserted into the resin layer at the required height to reduce the impact on the central drainage device when the resin layer expands and shrinks.
D. When the backwashing starts, the flow rate should be small. When the bubbles in the resin layer are exhausted and the resin begins to float, the backwashing flow rate should be increased.
E. improve the quality of the middle row equipment, make use of 316L stainless steel, processing and welding should be solid and reliable.
F. reduce operation speed of equipment
4. Damage of the top row device.
4.1 The upstream flow exchanger (such as floating bed, double chamber floating bed, etc.) is easy to cause damage during operation.
Solution: a. Change the form of the top device, from the main and branch pipe type, flange clamp perforated plate type, arc branch pipe type and external main pipe plug-in type to orifice plate water cap type and arc branch pipe type.
b. First fill the resin layer with a small flow of water, plus the flow of heavy water.
4.2 When the new resin is filled, enough space for reversible and irreversible expansion is not taken into account. When the resin expands, the top device of the exchanger will be damaged.
Solution: reduce the amount of resin.
5. Bubbles appear in resin layer.
Carbonic acid produced by the exchange reaction becomes free CO2 precipitation and accumulates in the resin layer. The shaft seal of the pump leaks air so that air enters the exchanger with the flow of water.
Solution: keep the exchanger running under 0.4-0.6Mpa pressure.
6. When the equipment is suspended for a long time or the valve leaks cause the resin dry layer, the resin will cause confusion due to the bubble.
Solution: slowly inflow, control loss of 2-3m/h, so that bubbles in resin layer can escape slowly.
7. Anti-corrosion coating off
Solution: Inspect and repair the equipment in time, grind and clean the coating off, and re-coat the anticorrosive coating.
