Diagnosis of reverse osmosis membrane fouling
Sep 14,2018
1. Carbonate scale
After scaling, the performance of standard osmotic water decreases or the desalination rate decreases.
Reason: increased concentration polarization on membrane surface
2. Iron / manganese
After pollution, the standard differential pressure rises (mainly in the front part of the device).
Water permeability decreased. Usually manganese and iron exist at the same time.
3. sulfate scale
If deposition occurs, the membrane element at the back of the system with the highest salt concentration affects the two stage pressure. The difference increased significantly.
4.Silicon
Granular silicon: the flow channel of the fouling plugging element causes the pressure difference of the system to rise.
5. Suspended solids / organic matter
The performance of sewage plugging is that the permeability decreases and the pressure difference increases. If the feed water SDI is greater than 4 or turbidity greater than 1, the possibility of organic pollution is greater.
6. Microorganism
Performance of sewage plugging: the increase of standard pressure difference or the decrease of standard permeability.
7.Iron
Sewage blocking performance: the standard differential pressure rises. EDTA sodium salt and alkali can be used for cleaning.
Note: The above judgment is only experience. Before making the conclusion, we should carefully analyze the running condition of the equipment and the running records of the equipment, analyze the raw water quality, check the foreign matter left on the filter membrane when the SDI value is measured, check the accumulation on the filter element of the safety filter of the reverse osmosis system, and check the raw water entering the system. The internal material of the pipe and the opposite end of the inlet end of the reverse osmosis membrane.
