China's Heaviest Methanol Washing Tower Lifted Successfully in Daqi

Recently, a 900,000-ton methanol project with an annual output of 1.8 million tons of coal-to-methanol-to-olefin was built in Sanyiliang Industrial Park, Dalat Banner, Ordos City. The washing tower, one of the heaviest equipment used in domestic methanol projects so far, was successfully hoisted by stages.

Following the successful completion of the lifting task of the bottom section of the tower weighing 653.2 tons on October 28, the project lifted the top section weighing 340 tons on November 1 and put it in place smoothly. The cumulative time of two lifts was less than 6 hours.

Methanol scrubbing tower is the core equipment of low temperature methanol scrubbing process in the methanol project invested by Shandong Yankuang Group in Mongolia. It is the largest single series tower in the same kind of plant in China at present. Its net weight is 993.2 tons, its inner diameter is 4.2 meters, its height is 76.1 meters, its design pressure is 65 kilograms, and its design temperature is - 75-80 degrees C. The equipment is hoisted in two stages. The lower stage weighs 653.2 tons, the length is 48.7 meters, the upper stage weighs 340 tons and the length is 27.4 meters. The main crane is hoisted by single crane and the tail slip of auxiliary crane. The main crane is hoisted by 1000 tons of caterpillar crane with a working radius of 17 meters, a arm length of 72 meters, and an actual lifting weight of 703.7 tons. The auxiliary crane is hoisted by 400 tons of caterpillar crane with a working radius of 9 meters and a arm length of 36 meters, and the actual lifting weight is 340 tons.

Successful hoisting of this equipment has accumulated valuable experience for hoisting other super-large and overweight separate equipment and welding of high-altitude units, and provided necessary conditions for installation and piping of other equipment, which laid a foundation for the follow-up work.
