The surface of the air flotation tank is usually rectangular, flat bottom or cone bottom. The position of the outlet pipe is slightly higher than the bottom of the pool. A mud scraper and a mud collecting tank are installed on the water surface. Because the floating speed of the particles with bubbles is very fast, the volume of the air flotation tank is small, and the water flow residence time is only more than ten minutes. 

Attachment of suspended matter There are basically three ways of attachment of suspended matter and bubbles in wastewater:

① Air bubbles precipitate on the surface of the particles;

②Adsorption of bubbles and particles;

③ Air bubbles are entrapped in the floc. 

Whether the bubbles can effectively adhere to the suspended particles mainly depends on the surface properties of the particles. If the particles are hydrophobic on the surface, air floatation should be used.
