The electro-flocculation process has simple equipment, compact structure, short residence time, small footprint, convenient operation and maintenance, low current required, low start-up and operating costs, and is easy to combine with other processes and realize automation. Compared with traditional chemical flocculation, the colloid formed by the produced metal ions has strong flocculation, fast deposition speed, and stronger adsorption capacity ; the generated tiny bubbles play the role of stirring and flotation, and the treatment effect is good. The electrode metal consumption is relatively low, the sludge output is relatively small, and the scope of application is relatively wide. There is no need to add chemicals during the reaction process, and secondary pollution is not easy to occur. During the electro-flocculation process, the anode is prone to form a dense oxide film, which causes passivation, interferes with the performance of the electrode plate, and reduces the treatment effect. Therefore, the anode needs to be replaced periodically, which increases the cost. Electric flocculation requires wastewater to contain a certain amount of dissolved solids and conductivity. At the same time, when removing waste water containing chlorides, the treatment process may produce toxic chlorine-containing compounds, and the generated chlorine gas may produce pungent odors. At present, the research on the mechanism of the electro-flocculation method is not very thorough. The molding design theory of the electro-flocculation reactor still relies on experience and experiments, and cannot be selected completely theoretically, which limits the development of electro-flocculation technology to a certain extent.
